It's a big deal

The bus is approaching and I can't tell what bus it is because the number is blurry. I wait until it's almost at my nose and then I see yay! It's my bus and I run for it. How come the other people at the bus stop saw it before me? They probably have super eyes. pshhh. Why do I get to be normal?

I press the TV Guide on the remote and I see nothing. Nope, the movies and shows are there but I cannot see it from the couch even after my usual squints. This was when I realised that I needed to seek help.

I went to the doctor and bragged about my "assumed" 20/20 vision and after checking my eyes, the doctor laughed. The kind of cynical, knowing laugh that can be annoying. He gave me something to read and put glasses on my face. I read it with ease, feeling cool. He took off the glasses and I saw NOTHING. Nothing. A blur. shifting of letters but I could not make out the words. I asked, "Do normal people see this?", his answer was chilling with a hint of amusement..."Yes."
Two days later, I picked up my glasses and stepped outside and wow! I saw the world in a different way. It was in HD, more like 3D because I could touch the world. I felt lie I was in movie. I think they gave me optical enhancers because normal people can never see like this. Or do they? If they do, then I've been blind for 21 years. I always just assumed that life was a supposed to be blurry. Surely man was not made to see this clearly. Now I feel like I have a super-power. I can see people's eyes, I can see the TV guide and finally I can read bus numbers. And what's more? I see how beautiful the world really is. I was suffering and I didn't even know it. Kinda makes me think about those who have not experienced love of family, they don't even know what they're missing.

It's a new look and I love it!

Who understands? Someone? Anyone?

LOL...yeah, that was me. I didn't start wearing glasses till I was like 25 and even now I still ask, are you sure people see better than I do without my glasses. My latest glasses are the best yet, I don't think ordinary people see that good, you know how thay say in TV ads, sharp, crystal clear color, lol...Still don't use it all the time. I prefer my fuzzy world sometimes...

lol!!! They look good goon on you though. The first time I wore glasses in JSS 3, I lied to my parents because they were soooo cool. That was how truly truly I became short sighted. Now I can do without them though.

Lovely blog btw.x

Haha your blog always amazes me. I know exactly what you are talking about. I had come to accept that people were blurry from a distance and i squint too much from too much TV. So 22yrs later when a friend lured me into the optician's office i came out with some stylish set and the world had never been so clear. HD is the best way to describe it. Love the Look girl Enjoy the view. I dont use mine always from fear that i would get blind if i see without them so i watch how long they stay on. besides the effect will always be amazing since i am always reminded of the difference.

LOL...colored contacts, no judging. I think I'm scared of getting too dependent on my glasses too. They get some exercise when I don't use the specs. I love your style though, looks great on you.

oluSimeon::: Thanks! It was pretty bad. haha!

Mbabazi::: Thank you. Oh well, I have no choice but to keep it.

Anon::: YOu lied to get them? Well I did have glasses before but Only for a bit. I was young and thought they were "uncool" haha! Here's what I get! Lesson learned! lool

Shaaka::: Aww . Thanks a lot. well 22 years is more than 21. So I'm happy I acted now. I beat you to it! lol.. I know what you mean, but I feel like I'm hurting myself when I do not use them. And my optician said that my eyes would most likely not degenerate further for another 20 years. But I get you. I try not to wear my glasses at home when I'm just relaxing.

Myne::: Thanks! haha! I know! I better start exercising my eyes too.loool

i have since opted for contact which i hardly wear

lmao,

First off,
Love the way your hair looks in the picture'

I feel you though, even though I don't think I share in your excitement...These things have become a clutch, in the sense that Everything's blurry w/o them...Imagine loosing or breaking them......No bueno

I made up my mind that I would save and get lasik eye surgery

Congrats on your new snazzy specs! I've been wearing lunettes since I was a few months shy of 8 years of age so I've experienced that feeling of awe at how well I can see a few times.

Sirius has said it for me...u look fab with it -flirty, sexy, serious!

doll::: You're lying. oh wow! I want to laugh but that is sad. Must have been harsh for you. I'm so happy people understand. Us, un-20/20-vision people should support each other. haha! And trade secrets! I'm getting my contacts really soon though. Excited about that.

Zena::: haha! As with everything, there are disadvantages. My friend warned me, but it is hard. Why would I see blurry when I can see in 3D. Thanks thanks.

GNG::: No! you did not just say "lunettes". hahah! Few months? lol I'd take that as an extreme hyperbole! And lol @ specs! Thanks

histreasure::: Thanks thanks! Who knew wearing glasses could be anything but nerdy.

welcome to the club girl, I wear glasses as well, my own story was quite interesting knowing It was when I tried to take my learner's permit test, I failed the first part of the test which was the vision exam...there we had it, I had to go get glasses.lol It's funny everyone has a story, I blamed it on drinking too much garri while in highschool.lol

Yup that was me about 10 years ago in High School. I was one that loved to sit in the back until one day my teacher told me to sit in the front. The following week we she called me mother and informed her that she thought I needed glasses. (Posh school teachers are soo mosy! i THOUGHT!) Nonetheless I was diagnosed as being near sighted (i.e. like you I can't see far away)

Sad thing is after tricking my Dad to buy me Prada glasses last year, I still barely wear them, smh! I am scared of that saying the more you wear glasses the worse your eye sight becomes....

Welcome to the glasses club! they suit you!
